DID YOU KNOW: Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can improve egg quality and promotes fertility!
When treating fertility I frequently hear from a lot of women who receive blood test results (FSH, AMH) that say they have poor egg quality and low egg reserve due to their age and other factors. This causes emotional stress and feelings of failure which can lead to difficulties conceiving and infertility. As an acupuncturist with over ten years experience specializing in helping women get pregnant, I have helped many of these women go on to have a healthy pregnancy with acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas.
Chinese medicine projects many factors affect that egg quality. It takes approximately 3-6 months for an egg to be produced, so I use acupuncture and herbs for several months and I emphasize patience and stress reduction strategies while preparing the woman to produce a healthy strong egg.
So how do acupuncture and herbs help? We at the Acupuncture Center of New Jersey in Morristown look at the whole individual to optimize the internal environment to produce a healthy egg and sustain a healthy pregnancy. Essentially the female Yin energy needs to be restored and the reproductive organs and Qi balanced. Diet, sleep, and exercise are all factors that can easily be changed into healthy habits.
Dietary changes include eating more antioxidants such as blueberries, broccoli beet, and cranberries. Eating plant based foods such as legumes, seeds, nuts, and whole grains all decrease inflammation and nourish the reproductive system.
Stress relieving techniques are also essential to improve egg quality. Excessive stress affects the hypothalamic- pituitary axis which regulates reproductive hormones. Meditation, yoga and acupuncture can all relieve stress and bring internal balance to the body.
Fertility acupuncture improves blood flow to the reproductive organs, optimizes implantation, balances hormones, and reduces miscarriage rates. Chinese herbs such as angelica, peony and lovage are carefully administered to regulate the menstrual cycle, and balance hormones. A frequency of 1-3 times a week for 3 cycles will improve egg quality, regulate the menstrual cycle, improve emotional well-being and improve egg quality.
