Tui Na Massage
Tui Na is a form of medical massage that developed in ancient China. “Tui” means to push, and “na” means to grab or squeeze. Tui na is more focused on treating specific injuries than more common relaxation massage techniques like Swedish. Specific motions and techniques are used to manipulate joints and soft tissue to enhance blood flow and release tension. Some of the techniques of tui na are not found in any other style of massage.
Tui Na also goes beyond treating joints and muscles to work on the body’s energy, or qi, at a deeper level.
At the Acupuncture Center of New Jersey, we do not offer tui na, or any other type of massage as a stand alone treatment, but it is likely to be administered in conjunction with acupuncture for many orthopedic conditions.
